In the late 1990s, Taiwan’s medical and biotechnology research saw a flourishing development, leading to a significant demand for research equipment. However, the expensive nature of imported products coupled with poor after-sales services, alongside local product quality failing to meet market demands, posed a challenge. In this context, our founder, Mr. Huang Cunqiang, drawing on years of professional experience in a medical equipment trading company, established Hotech Instruments Corp. in 1980. Our mission is to meet the local Taiwanese market’s needs by autonomously researching and producing biotechnology and medical instruments that match the quality of those from advanced countries.
In 1981, responding to the demand for equipment for the development of biotechnology, we developed shakers and oscillating water baths. These products not only fulfilled local demands but also garnered support and encouragement from the National Science Council.
With the successful development of products like shakers, incubators, and temperature calibration baths, we participated in the 1989 BIOTECHNICA / LABVOLUTION in Germany Hannover Exhibition Center. Our shakers performed exceptionally well during the exhibition, earning high praise from European and American manufacturers. We were even invited by the Swiss Khuner shaker to visit their state-of-the-art technology and processes at the time.
In March 2003, when Taiwan was hit by the SARS outbreak, we swiftly designed and produced 40 temperature standard sources in response to national policy requirements. These devices were used in infrared thermal imaging devices in major public places, ensuring the accuracy of non-contact temperature measurement devices to meet the urgent demand at that time.
In 2008, considering the growing demand for blood product thawing, warming, and preservation in the medical market, blood banks, and blood donation centers, we introduced the Taiwanese Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the International Standard ISO 13485 for Medical Device Quality Management Systems. Building on our core temperature control technology, we manufacture high-quality medical equipment, providing major medical institutions with reasonably priced, high-quality equipment and comprehensive after-sales services.
